If your location, activities or food and beverage offerings cater to an older demographic then you will want to follow through on interior design detail too.

By the age of 60 the amount of light reaching the photoreceptors in the human eye is only 1/3 of that of a 20 year old.  By the late 70’s it is only 20%.   Our brains will do some of the work of filling in missing detail but the eye lens yellows with age.

So to create a dynamic and interesting interior for older guests add additional contrast into your colour palette.   The blue receptor cells also degrade with age so any blue-based colours will appear darker to older guests.

In other words if you don’t want things to appear black—steer clear of navy!
