05. Site specific design

Your hotel is location specific so why not link your décor?  Artwork might include a showcase of the work on local artists on nearby locations, or your own black & white detail photography of the hotel or grounds beautifully framed and specially lit. 

Colour schemes can also be taken from the local environment.  Take sample photographs of the area to use only for colour reference.  Lay them out as thumbnails on the computer and try moving them together to make different colour combinations for room schemes. 

If your area is known for a particular material, stone or a particular type of plant for example, consider using it as a feature in an internal space. 

Site specific design creates a memorable experience for guests which can be easily distinguished from competitors.
